Frequently. Asked. Questions.

1. Do tattoos hurt?

Yes, yes they do. But if it's something that you really want to have done, then they are worth it. Some areas of the body are more painful than others. I wouldn't recommend the ribs for a first tattoo but it has been done. It really just depends on your own personal pain tolerance. The pain is more of an annoyance than anything.

2. Should I eat before I get tattooed?

YES!!! Eat a decent meal prior to getting tattooed, something with substance (chips or a granola bar aren't quite going to cut it), to help aid your body in responding to the tattooing process. When you get tattooed, you get an adrenaline rush and your body will metabolize whatever is in your stomach very quickly. If there is nothing there, you run the risk of getting light headed and passing out. This is also why you feel like you are starving after you get tattooed. Bringing snacks along for longer sessions is always a good idea too.

3. What should I wear when I get tattooed?

Wear clothes that you don't really care about. We're always very careful and we use drop cloths but sometimes accidents still happen and you may end up with ink on your clothes. If that happens, it WILL stain and may not come out. Also keep in mind the area that you are getting tattooed. Will it be easily accessible? For example, if you're getting your thigh tattooed, don't wear jeans or if you do, bring a pair of shorts to change into.

4. Is your shop sterile?

Yes. we are personally certified in regards to cross contamination and blood borne pathogens. We never reuse needles, they are all single use only. We use disposable barriers over equipment. We wipe all surfaces down with opticide after each tattoo.

5. How long have you been tattooing?

Derek has been tattooing since 2009, Candace has been tattooing since 2013.

6. Have you ever tattooed yourself?

Yes, we have :)

7. What is the longest session that you've ever tattooed someone for?

Too long. We usually only go for 3-6 hours max anymore. It's easier on you and us.

8. What is your favorite thing to tattoo?

Derek is partial to Japanese and 80's nerdy stuff and Candace loves anything nerdy/cutesy/cartoony and anything where she can blend and play with color.
